Alumni Trustee Candidates (Vote for one)

David DeFerrari, 1986
David DeFerrari graduated Magna Cum Laude from Green Mountain College in 1986, when he was awarded the Outstanding Student Award by the Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies.  While a student at Green Mountain, he served the college in a number of capacities, most notably as the President of the Student Government and as a four year captain of the basketball team.  In addition, he was also a Resident Assistant, Green Key Counselor and Chairman of the Judicial Board and, for his efforts, was named Who's Who Among Students in Colleges and Universities.  Since graduation, David has enjoyed a career in education, serving (at various times) as a coach, teacher and administrator, first at the high school level, and for the last 19 years at the college level.  During this time he has also continued to serve the college by representing it at college fairs in his home state of New Jersey and as a member of the Alumni Association Board of Directors, serving as Vice President.  In  2003 , David was awarded the alumni association's Young Alum Award for his contributions to the college.  He is presently employed at Caldwell College, Caldwell, NJ as its Fitness Center Manager, Equipment Manager and Assistant Men's Basketball Coach.  He is seeking his first term as an Alumni Trustee.

Chris Allan King, 1960
Chris Allan King, a resident of Arlington, VT, has served on the GMC Alumni Board since the fall of '04. She is also a former GMC Alumni & Development director. Her career was primarily in fund raising for academe & non-profits, as well as several years in elder services & programming. Her personal history also includes more than 3 decades of volunteer service to libraries, churches, non-profits,and senior service agencies. She is currently the Director of Community Relations for the Dorset Theater Festival in Dorset, VT, and is the mother of Matthew of Amherst, MA, and Rebecca of Newport, RI.

Alumni Director Candidates (Vote for six)

Maryann Eastman, 1987
Maryann graduated from GMC in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Behavioral Science. During her time at GMC, Maryann was Co-Chair of the Judicial Board in 1985-1986. She has been in the retail industry for 27 years and is currently the Manager of Book Warehouse in North Conway, NH. Maryann Volunteers at many organizations including the Saco Valley Fire Department in North Fryeburg, ME and the local library. Maryann has been actively involved with the Alumni Association for the last six years and is seeking her first term as Alumni Director.

David Eckler, 1987
David graduated from GMC in 1987 with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology.  David is currently living in Canajoharie, NY with his Wife Tia.  David and Tia have four children.  David continued his education and is a psychiatric nurse working in the Albany area.  He has been an active member of the Alumni Board for the last three years.  David is seeking his second term as an Alumni Director.

Dottie Adams Fidler, 1942
Dorothy Adams Fidler graduated in 1942 from what was then Green Mountain Junior College.  At Green Mtn she became a member of Phi Theta Kappa. She went on to Ohio University, Athens, Ohio, and received a BSJournalism degree.  While at Ohio U. she became a member of Theta Sigma Phi, an Honoray Society for women in journalism.   The Society is now called Association for Women in Communications. She has had a varied career, including working on the staff of magazines published by the American Chemical Society, and as a reporter for the Bergen Record, Hackensack, NJ, and as a Residential Councilor at a church affiliated group home.  She has served on various Boards, ie Association for Retarded Children, American Legion Auxiliary, and a school board.  She and her husband, Bob, have raised two children. Dottie and Bob reside in Warwick, NY.

Carol Murphy, 1973
Carol graduated from GMC with a degree in Physical Education. She was one of the first female career firefighters in the country when she was hired by the Lexington, Massachusetts Fire Department in 1980. She is a member of the International Association of Firefighters, the Professional Firefighters of Mass, and the International Association of Women in Fire & Emergency Services. Carol is also a member of the Essex Natural Heritage Commission, an organization which strives to maintain the history and culture of the New England area. She is also active in environmental networking, Native American culture, Irish culture, and coaching girl's varsity Lacrosse. She enjoys many outdoor activities, including kayaking, skiing, and hiking. She hopes to see GMC continue on its upward movement in the future.

Catherine Villafranco Parker, 1987
Catherine Villafranco Parker graduated cum laude from Green Mountain College in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science degree . She served as President of Phi Theta Kappa in 1987 , and was named to Who's Who Among Student in Colleges and Universities. While at Green Mountain she also served as a Green Key Counselor from 1984 to 1987. Cathi is Vice President at Wainwright Bank and Trust Company in Boston where she has been employed for 20 years. Cathi and her husband Glenn (GMC 1987) reside in Arlington, Massachusetts. Cathi currently serves as President of the Alumni Association Board of Directors. She is seeking her Third term as an Alumni Board Director.

Debbie Wilson Sherman, 1988
Debbie graduated from Green Mountain College in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science in Special and Elementary Education. She served on the Alumni Board from 1998 to 2002 when she took on the role of Alumni Director of the College. She remained in that capacity until 2005 when she became the Resident Director of the Resort Management Program on Killington. She now works for Killington as the Director of the Childcare program. She would enjoy being able to work with the college again as an Alumni Board member. She lives in Vermont and is able to work on local events and planning. She has insight from a student's point of view as she still works closely with some of the GMC students during the winter season at Killington. She would truly enjoy helping out once again as an alumni board member.

Amy Stilkey, 1995
Amy Stilkey graduated cum laude from Green Mountain College in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science degree, receiving the academic award for Retail Management. At Green Mountain she was a member of the Student Judicial Board and Alpha Chi. She was involved in work study, gave tours of the campus for the admissions department and also had part-time employment for three years. Currently she lives in Vermont and works for The Old Vermont Store. She enjoys hiking, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. She is seeking her second term as an Alumni Board Director.

Lynette Cudney Whaley, 1971
Lynette Cudney Whaley lives in Saratoga Springs. She is currently an Assistant Principal at Saratoga Springs High School, where she taught business for eight years. She is also President of her family's business, Cudney's Launderers and Dry Cleaners, Inc. Lyn previously served on the Green Mountain Alumni Board and served as secretary to the board for several of those years. She has fond memories of Green Mountain and is very enthusiastic about its environmental focus. Lyn was a liberal arts major at Green Mountain. She went on to earn her Masters of Science in Business Education from the University at Albany. Four years ago she returned to college, earning two educational administrative certificates from the College of Saint Rose. At Saratoga High, she works with seniors. At least 83% of Saratoga's gradutes continue on to college immediatley after high school.
