Senior Project Proposal Outline
(non-scientific method)
Introduction
What is your project about?
Why is it important? To you, to society? Who will benefit?
Are there outside APU people or agencies involved in your project?
What other projects or research have been done that are similar to yours? How do these relate to your project?
If project is a creative work, what is inspiring your project?
Project (Research) Objectives
Objectives list specific outcomes of your project--
What will you learn from doing the project?
What products will you produce? A paper? A map? A report? A curriculum?
What will be presented to your senior project committee?
How will you know that the project is a "success?"
Methods
How, specifically, will you achieve the objectives you outlined? You may want to develop a specific task list.
Does your project involve library work? Field work? Surveys or interviews?
Explain the procedures you will follow to collect data. If you will collecting data and taking measurements, how will you do it?
If data is to be analyzed, explain the methods to be used. If data is qualitative, how will you analyze it and make sense out of it? If data is quantitative, what statistical methods will be used, if any, to make inferences?
If project is creative, explain what you would require to bring the project to fruition.
Time Schedule
List your project tasks and a tentative schedule for completing them.
Budget
If your project requires funding, how much money is required. Who will pay for the project.
