GreenMAP Trips
are free student led outings open to the entire Green Mountain
College community. Many of our trips require no prior experience,
and our trained student leaders are ready to teach you! If you are
interested in becoming a volunteer leader, take a look at our

GreenMAP weekday program sign ups
start on Monday a week before the trip and have no pre-trip
meeting. Meet at the GreenMAP office at the time specified. DO

course may be used as a Re-Certification option for those
with a current WMA Wilderness First Responder or Wilderness

FOR
CURRENT GREENMAP LEADERS - GreenMAPIT will take place in the
Breadloaf Wilderness of the Green Mountains staying at
Skylight Pond. Training topics will include Site Management
and Travel Strategies for snowshoeing and backcountry
skiing, Natural History with alumni Craig Cimmons, Ration
Cooking, and Off Trail Navigation.

Description:
Winter brings a sense of remoteness to the
Adirondacks that you won’t find in the warmer months, and
there is no time more beautiful than February. Participants
should be prepared to spend 2 nights and three days hiking
in the snow including a winter ascent of Pharaoh Mountain. |

Description:
Join GreenMAP and the Student Activities Board for a
trip to Jay Peak, Vermont. Jay is well known for
receiving the most natural snow in New England. In
fact, they get almost twice as much as your average New
England Resort. With some of the best glade runs in
the northeast, and a classic Vermont feel, Jay should be on
your list of resorts to visit before you graduate.
Student Activities has chipped in to lower the cost of
lodging at a local hostel, and GreenMAP will be providing
free tele ski rentals. GreenMAP will also provide
transportation and dinner both nights. Breakfast is
included with our stay at Grampa Grunts Lodge.

This climbing trip is geared for beginners with
instruction provided to improve your technique on vertical
ice. Enjoy two weekends of instruction in Adirondack Park,
home to some of the finest ice in the northeast.

Description:
MMMMM....Breadloaf. The Breadloaf
Wilderness is located in a snow pocket east of Middlebury
and contains some high and wild skiing and snowshoeing on
and off trail. Skiers will wind their way through some
excellent glades while snowshoers will enjoy the quiet
classic wilderness on our way to the Skylight Pond cabin
Saturday night. Skiers need to be able to ski at an
intermediate level as well as be able to tour up hill for
extended periods of time.

Description:
The
Wilderness First Responder course has been designed
specifically to meet the needs of wilderness guides,
expedition leaders, and outdoor instructors. It is the
outdoor education and recreation industry’s' standard for
wilderness medical training. It is the wilderness medicine
training course for outdoor professionals...and the course
you want your friends to have taken before you travel with
them. The course includes WMTC adult CPR certification. |

Description:
Live free and climb. Join GreenMAP on a weekend
trip to White Mountain Ice! We will venture to New Hampshire
to work on improving your vertical ice technique, and
increasing your climbing time. Beginner and experienced
climbers welcome.

Description:
Do you like to earn your turns? This trip will
involve a good bit of touring as well as downhill fun.
Location will be determined based the conditions La Nina
provides us. Possibilities include Dix and Big Slide
Mountains in the Adirondacks, Breadloaf Wilderness and Mt.
Mansfield in the Green Mountains, or Mt. Greylock in
Massachusetts. A
high intermediate level of skiing ability is required.

Description:
Tucks is THE backcountry destination on
the East Coast and in late April the spring season is in
full swing. With most ski routes being at least 45
degrees and some more, this trip is for skiers and
snowboarders who can ride at an expert level.
We will be back on campus for Honors Tea.
