SCGF Author CommentaryBy Emily PaulAside from the story, I'm going to attempt to appeal to you, as individuals, to support SCGF in any way that you can. In a world where everything seems to be run by the man; who wouldn’t want to support an organization that is run by students, where projects are proposed by students, where the proposals are voted on by the student body, and where the funding comes wholly from students? Above all else, SCGF wants the mandatory fee of $30 to be implemented. Let's take a moment to figure out what $30 equals out to. A grocery trip to Shaw’s, or two twelve-packs of Otter Creek, or one and a half tanks of gas, or two CD’s, or a really nice haircut, or half of your average text book at the book store, or six sessions of acupuncture, or a year old video game, or one hard cover book, or thirty cups of coffee at the YES! Coffee House, or two skeins of yarn, or a modest clothes shopping trip, or thirty songs on iTunes, or two trips to the Brown Bag Gourmet. Get the idea? Thirty dollars is a measly amount of money to fork over for the betterment of our school and our planet. So I guess the question becomes, are you willing to sacrifice that trip to the liquor store? |
