GreenMAP Update: New director off to a good start

By Linwood Eichhorn

If you have walked or have stopped by the Green Map office you may have noticed a new face sitting at the desk. This may be strange for all of you who have been used to seeing Craig, and his sidekick Marmot at his feet. This new member of the GMC family is Bruce Saxman.

Bruce, a Pennsylvania native, previously spent four years running the outdoor recreation office at the University of Wisconsin Stout, a job very similar to what he is doing now at GreenMAP.

I stopped by the Green Map office to meet Bruce and see what his goals for Green MAP are.

When asked what brought him to Green Mountain Bruce said "The job listing was on an internet posting that I subscribe to."

"I love it." is the reaction when asked what he thinks of Vermont so far. Bruce said that he feels more at home in Vermont than he did in Wisconsin, because he is closer to his family who lives in Pennsylvania.

When asked what he brings to the GreenMAP office Bruce said he is enthusiastic about college outdoor programming and that he enjoys working with people in the college age group. As for long term goals for Green MAP, Bruce said that he would like to run expanded trips, and in the future would like to include international travel into the program.

If you have a chance you should stop by the Green MAP office and welcome Bruce into our community. While you are there check out what is coming up for future activities, and trips.
